“For the longest time, I’ve been trying to define the meaning of HAPPINESS in my own life. It’s hard to explain but something deep inside me longed to better understand how to become a happier version of myself, and then help others to do the same.
The more I investigated the meaning of HAPPINESS internally, the more I started to read books on the topic, I read and analysed several HAPPINESS studies online, watched as many videos on YouTube as I could, and I spoke to many different people about what HAPPINESS meant to them.
But more than anything, my own life unraveled in 2019 and it was during that very difficult time that I decided to create a talk about HAPPINESS. I guess there were two reasons I did this.
First, I’ve been a professional speaker for over a decade and I’ve learnt that if I want to master something then I should teach it back to others. The second reason is because I watched a video on the topic of HAPPINESS that spoke to the number of people committing suicide.
At the beginning of 2020, I presented my HAPPINESS talk for the very first time and I received such an incredible response from the audience. I really felt like I was onto something and then COVID came along. It’s almost like the universe decided to test me on the subject. Like so many others, COVID really impacted every facet of my life and there were some really dark days, but the knowledge I gained from studying HAPPINESS really got me through, and it gave me extra impetus to further the work I was doing.
In October 2020, I decided to take things further and create a comprehensive 1-day workshop centred around the topic of HAPPINESS. In 2020, my team and I completed four editions of this workshop, and we got such an amazing response that we decided to continue to host these workshops into the new year.
These days, my goal is to move away from speaking about the science of HAPPINESS, and move toward the practice of HAPPINESS. By hosting this session over a full day, we can really dive into the details of HAPPINESS, and we can actually practice several techniques on the day.
More than anything, I just want to create value for other people and help them become better versions of themselves. That’s why this HAPPINESS workshop means everything to me. To hear from people after they’ve attended the workshop, and to know that I made a difference in some way, that is the best feeling in the world.
